im a working boy now!

so started work yesterday!! wow, i rolled out carpets for an sports dinner and then lifeguarded at cambridge pool for 3 hours. also had an meeting and now i am becoming the cambridge simming instructor (hence 'the') so am running crash courses during there summer holiday in jan. it is hard working at the cambs pool as it is outdoor and in the sun etc. lol

had lunch today with an guy from church so that is really kl, and met some more local people so that is deff an plus.

i went on an explore kayak and ended up at a cafe (hard i know) where met some guy who knew who i was staying with. although that isnt really surprising as they seem to know everyone and its an shock if people dont know them. had a gd while out on the water in the morn; but the next day my shoulder blades felt it!! but took me a while to work out what it was, lol.

life is getting going and thats really great. also mint to read emails from ya and had my second phone call with my ma last night so that was nice. but i like that fact that she was just annoyed that i didnt have lots internet access so couldnt reply, or is it wouldnt. mmm...

lol, awesome dont worry the sun is out again and i've scared caz's rain away!!! the temp is a nice 21 today, and its still spring. woop woop

Caz has sent me rain!

so thanks to caz i now have rain today, but it's only light showers so thats all right.

so this weekend has been meeting people! i have also been dipped into the world of rowing with an event on at the lake, and meeting some of teh coaches through my uncle and a get together on the sat night and also some more peeps my agesish. i have managed to meet the gappers at the two local posh schools in cambs and hamilton. so hopefully that'll be kl to get to know some more english guys in the area.

was really great to be able to chill out with some guys and enjoy the ending day of sun, while laughing at few peeps sunburn. so that was my saturday night and in true sports style it ended early and i was home by 10:15, lol. but did start earlier so hours wise its what i would do back home but just different hours.

went to an church on sunday and that was kl, it was really welcoming and also got intoduced to the youth pastor so thats a good link. i actually seemed really happy there and think that i may just keep going there and lose the hassle of finding somewhere im happy with. maybe teh deciding factor was hearing about the work in the local schools and that is something that i really have time for.
but all in all i am looking forward to starting my job and increasing activity in my life, but i do enjoy the view i have when i wake up. i will try to get an picture but hard as no internet at the house so have to find somewhere when i come into cambs to do it. kl, i'd best get on with my jobs, i have to visit my new work place at the local pool, then up to bank, down to the warehouse, find some luch, visit the new $2 store, and luckily have started off with the internet.

oh and the new job as you keep asking; it is at the local pools in Cambridge and Te Awmuntu (spelling close but will lear it soon). camb pool is 50m outdoor and hyro pool (learner pool) and Te A is 25m indoor, hyro, and flume inside lesuire complex, this is where they want me more but i shall see more when i talk with the lady organising everything for me and my assesments here as they dont like what i have bk home but company likes it.

klio, not too many random things but the barbbie on fri night after long drive bk home through some totally beautiful places, reminding me how AWESOMELY FAB it is here.

things are relaxed here

its crazy! the course wednesday reminded me how relaxed everything is. i sadly didnt really learn anything but then thats good that i know it from home etc, lol. first aid is so taught differently with main aims at different things, like with a spinal here about just keeping them alive however at home it is trying to keep them mobile in the future. but hey its only an 12hr course taught in an 8hr day with 6 1/2 hrs contact teachin, mmm. relaxed a?!

so yesterday i hit the road and worked my way down to grandparents in Wanganui to say hi breifly before starting work and things. so this is where i stayed last night at my uncle's, so that is all grovvy; esp that he has broadband so can actually be online.

Welcome to New Zealand

so all things are going well. i have arrived here in Cambridge smoothly (ish)

well the journey started off with a sail and an late night at the local pub. so the sail was on the beautiful lake macquire; and it was a huge lake (yes i've said it again). we came second last in the club race but when thinking about how many people onboard the boat was actually sailing that might expain the reason. then at the pub we were visted by 8 police officers, but they were boring and just looked around and chatted to a few people then had a mother's meeting outside! lol.
the short sleep and up at 6 leaving at 7 and dropped off at the airport. it was a drop and go which i find best as said goodbyes and then i can just sort myself out without having to think about where there are of being poilte (that was when my dad dropped me off, lol, no he took me out for coffee before i flew so he can do that anytime. hint hint dad for next time). but anyway i looked at the checkin tv screen to see where to go to and couldnt find my flight :O
luckily there was a lady standing next to the board and kindly told me that to remember that it is now daylight saving in NSW so i looked forward to the hour after, and there it was! i arrived with an extra hour, the silly plane people. but it is all good! i just had an extra hour waiting in an seat reading before we left.

arrived here and was picked up, tho my auntie was worried that my uncle would forget me as he was picking me being the only one in the house for the week. but it was all very easy so that made me feel better. it was election day and so had the fun fun ness that was american election all over again (why do the whole world care enough to extremely follow their election, why not just in the news??). but then we knwo the answer to that question, they have control in some form or other over the whole world. but i dont like politics so am trying to avoid it.

just chilled out compleatly on sunday and had my auntie arrive later in the afternoon. monday was job hunting day!!! we walked into the local pool where they have already recieved my cv and as they knew my auntie jumped to who i was and so i didnt even have an introduction!! lol, but now i am going to an first aid training day tomorrow as need to have the qualifiactions over here, so then i have the assessment left so should be working by the end of next week. i will also but mainly based at an other local town as that is where the hours are and they are hoping that i will be able to work slightly higher than just lifeguard but they will see how it all goes etc. so that is very good news :D

now that is what my life will be, trying to pretend that i am a kiwi for the next 4months deff and possible 5 depending on how i feel when i go travelling the south island(yes tracey i will make sure that i go there as that is just what i am missing in seeing NZ, oh and above auckland but that is in hand too).

im sorry if i have rambled but i feel that it has turned that way. but just things have happened and so remembering order is hard. now i have to go to the bank here as the account number i have for my account here doesnt make sense to transfer money here; now that is annoying. oh and actually sort out an local number!

righty oh, i'd best get on with things then and allow you to try and work out if what i have said makes sense.

last day in OZ

so i have finally arrived at my last whole day in the land that is bigger than europe and goes with the name Austrailia. and a journey it has been, traveling through 4 time zones during the course of the 6 weeks i have been in OZ and plus singapore and london, that 6 time zones that my journey has brought me through (ones i have walked in not flew through) with my journey leading me towards my next time zone tomorrow morning!

this week has been great and seemed like mega long! i have had two days surfing and now can turn, better right than left. and i can catch waves that are no larger than 3ft (yet) well i did a couple but they fell off them, so dont think they count.
i have watched the film Newcastle in Newcastle and reckonmend it so people who like an extended Home and Away or a good Surfing Movie come Teenagers film. i have seen the places where it has been filmed (due to it being at places where i would go to anyway) and even had a day surfing the beaches that were used for one main location; Stockton beach. although the part of the beach that i used was compleately far away from where they used but my claim to the film.
got into locals street natter, very amusing (for me). as was stood out watching the boys playing out front with my glass of water in hand and end up the other side of the street chatting with the neighbour oppisite. it has been a great week getting to know the boys and spending time with them, aswell as Noel and Mel too (tho not the playing part). it will feel really weird leaving here now even though i only met 2 members of my family on this trip they all feel like close family and maybe it's that that they have in their culture here and being close with the family they have in OZ that just includes me so easily. aswell as the aussie culture of friendliness too!

but the finalle of my evenings here is finishing with a sailing trip across lake macquire :) so i have been looking forward to it all week! and today is the day. somehow i dont think we will see much of the lake as it is said to be 3times the surface water space of Sydney Harbour (and thats the largest habour).

all in all OZ is just MINT, and is a place that i could just find myself living in (don't worry mum i still have plans to spend dad's money at uni in england)

Firsts!!

so i have had a weekend of firsts!!

starting of with 'Trick or Treat' and my view of the rightness of it still undecided, but i was a responisble person (cough cough) with my cousins going around local area.
Nippers, very hard to explain but basically the child activities from all local surf clubs and you can end up working all the way to board work (ocean life saving stuff). very amusing to watch tho! with their hats on and all.
surf boats, the rowing boats that used to be used by lifesavers to scare off teh sharks as been told they were used for. but watch them race as thats all they are used for now due to technology.
and of course!! surfing, i had my first surfing lesson! and my second all in one day, no wonder my arms hurt today! but i have started to learn one of the things the OZ is know for.

but that doesnt enclude a local aussie barbie!! real family & friends with scrimps and all :) tasted fresh too :D so my tummy liked that.

so this weekend (monday and friday included) have been full of new things.

catching up with people!

so from my afar and weird time zone i am slowly catching up with poeple! its great to keep with with people that you know so well! but hard also, mainly due to then being quick notes on fb walls. but so know that life still goes on is interesting, however the big changes that happen to other people seem very weird and strange that i am not apart of this and will not be even closely around to watch this; however i am sure that this is the same for you also with me.
bubble's as people call them of uni i think is the same in any place if you choose;
job, friends, your party scene habbits, different countries, and just things that you see
but these's 'bubbles' could be broken and that is if you choose to force the way out, weather at uni that force is making time for walks, or going to a church. or for me making sure that i slowly keep up with people and try to keep up with them. (not very good at). but then that reminds me of christianity and be different and i think about how to be a different Gap Year'er' (new word zoe, but now your job to find a clever way to put in dictionary).

at the moment life is going slow and i am having a lot of time to think! lots recently has been about all that i have left behind and the people and activities, and it is just weird to have my home bubble broken.
university, jobs, travel have all broken this bubble and the thought that it is gone is (insert word here) and this explodes my mind to lots of possibilites (and useful 6th form has taught me about plantinga's world of possibilites theory, which very much so comes to mind [hope right name and thinking he is slightly different theory now written down]).

but with all things in the air some things hit normality, when plans change and i found out that i still have issues with companinies that havent been sorted yet! and things just get very sillyly annoying. even more so when i am so far away, and only have email contact and not as often as when i was back home on the internet daily. but life goes on and one thing hasnt changed and so i owe a lot too especially as He has a plan and i know that it'll all be alright. but saying is a lot easier than believing especially when it envolves humans in a different country sorting out an issue you believed was fixed.

thats life!
